What Is the 10000 Hour Rule?
There’s a popular saying that poker is a game that takes a “day to learn, but a lifetime to master.”
Poker is a game that takes minutes to learn and a lifetime to master. The majority of players never make money at any limit.
Every known
scientist, sportsman,… has dedicated his life to a certain profession and made
it because they did so. I just read Hendrix’s biography, the dude was playing
guitar instead of going to school all day every day, he was touring USA for 4
years with nothing to eat, he had to pawn his guitar a lot of times so he could
have something to eat… and all he wanted was to play the guitar, nothing else.
and i think it was Einstein who said it: success is 1% talent and 99% work. so
talent doesn’t really mean **** if you don’t work hard for it.
There are no instant experts in chess—certainly no instant masters or grandmasters. There appears not to be on record any case (including Bobby Fischer) where a person reached grandmaster level with less than about a decade’s intense preoccupation with the game. We would estimate, very roughly, that a master has spent perhaps 10,000 to 50,000 hours staring at chess positions…

Obsession is the Only Thing That Counts
Extreme and Obsessive Take a step back and put these two things together and ask yourself if you can find a single person who is successful at activity X that does not possess both of these qualities.
